The story follows a school bus driver, Telly and his young friend Billy, who discover that all the children and teachers of their small elementary school have disappeared. When Billy heard the commotion, he hid in a cupboard and was saved from the fate of the others.
Who took the children? Where did they go? and What will happen to them? Telly and Billy set out to find out, as the entire town turns out to search for the missing children.
Ther book is well written, the wording and sentence structure appropriate for the age group and there is plenty of mystery and action to keep a young mind engaged.
A little twist at the end will reveal the true nature of the story and I found that to be interesting and thought-provoking.
All in all, Children of the Future is a good, solid, young person's book that would appeal to a wide age range. Four, solid stars from this reviewer.
