It is five years on since The Flame Queen murdered her evil husband Ryore and consigned him to eternity. Their daughter, Princess Elinor has no knowledge of the past happenings but is already beginning to feel her inherent magic arising within her. When Elinor is kidnapped and held hostage and Peradon thrust into a storm the likes of which nobody has seen before, the Queen is beside herself and frantic with worry for her daughter and her kingdom.
Queen Violetta, her one true but unrequited love, Xyhoni and the enigma that is Lord Jork must embark on a dangerous mission to find Elinor, one in which they and their magic will be tested to the absolute limits.
This is a good, solid read and one that instills in the reader a sense of empathy for the characters. I think Munro has done a very good job with this sequel and I await the third installment with anticipation. If epic-fantasy is your genre, then Symbiote is probably for you.
