THE SECRET CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE
![]() I
guess like most people I discovered the secret by accident. Well to be perfectly
honest, I didn't discover the secret myself, my wife did. For about a week she
kept coming to me and saying; "I know what's wrong honey, I know why I'm not
achieving what I want." Me, being an adventurous sort of a soul finally asked
that fateful question; "Why"? To be frank the answer susrprised me. Her answer
was simple; "Me". Not wanting push the issue, i just smiled and said, "Ah ok
hon, well no doubt you will figure it all out". I left it at
that.
Later that night she asked me to watch a video with her on the computer, something we often do of an evening together. This time however she didn't ask me to choose a movie to watch, she said she had found a video we should watch together, called; "The Secret". Thus started my amazing journey of self discovery that will no doudbt continue until I take my last breath on this earth. Now, I must declare up front that I'm a pretty cynical and analytic person. I rarely, if ever, take anything at its face value and I rarely if ever take anything on faith. Over the years I have looked into, tried and dabbled in many "religions" / "faiths" and while I have found merit in some of almost all of them, I have never found enough to satisfy my sceptical and cynical mind. Years of cynicism have I suspect made me into a grumpy, old man to some extent, in fact my step-daughter said once that I had a Masters degree in sarcasm and my son has commented from time to time that I was a "reactionary old fart" so I was hardly the sort of person who would or should be captured by the ideas presented in " The Secret", but unbelievably I was. ![]() To
anyone who has not seen or read of The Secret, please visit the website www.thesecret.tv and watch the
video or download a copy of the ebook and read it. It will absolutely change
your life, as it has mine.
As I watched the video, one recurring theme seemed to come to me. What we had here, I thought to myself was an attempt to put an academic or a scientific framework on something that we all intuitively knew to be correct. What kept hitting me in the face was this: "Finally someone has a rational explanation for all of those things that we know to be true, but cannot explain". I'm thinking here of the concepts of; karma, beginner's luck and the power of positive thinking. We all know that these things exist, but we don't understand why they work. Suddenly here was someone giving me a totally understandable, totally rational and totally believable explanation as to why these things exist. ![]() Take Karma for example. Off the top of my head, I suspect that Karma is a Buddhist
principle. It seems to fit in nicely with their idea of reincarnation and
getting what you deserve. All of us, it seems want to believe in Karma. We want
to believe that if people do bad things to us, then their "turn will come", they
will get their "come-uppance. Equally, we want to believe that if we do good
deeds, then ultimately we will be rewarded. The Secret assures us that this is
very much the case. We are what we think and what we do.

![]() Beginner's luck is also admirably explained in The Secret. When we try something new, it is usually because we are excited or passionate to give something new a go. It is this passion and excitement that ensures that the Universe gives us exactly what we are seeking - beginner's luck. I mean, we've all seen examples of people that try new games, new sports or new activities, and who seem to be born to the activity. Their passion translates directly into results.
We've all heard people who promote the idea of the power of positive thought and I guess like me, you've often thought to yourself, "yeah, that's all very nice and all, but how in the heck can you be positive all the time when the world is in such a mess, and more importantly your own personal life is in such a mess". The beauty of The Secret is that it not only shows you how to think positively, it convinces you that such thinking is the ONLY way to achieve your goals, your desires and ultimately a happy and successful life. In that respect one would have to say that The Secret is quite possibly the most important thing you will ever watch or read in your life. After I'd finished watching The Secret, I felt like I had a whole new world opened up to me. Things I did not understand before, I suddenly got. A good example of this was something that had always made me ponder, but I'd never understood it. At school we were taught that Rodin's famous statue called "The Thinker" was subtexted as "I think, therefore I am!" I'd always wondered what did he mean by that. After watching The Secret, the answer was blindingly obvious. We are what we think, that is the immutable law of the Universe. Such incredible revelation. ![]() If
you have not seen it or read it yet, I would implore you to do so. "What have
you got to lose?" It will only take you an hour or so to watch it. Is an hour
not worth it? If you get nothing else out of watching The Secret, beyond a good
feeling, then it has surely been worth it, so don't waste another minute, go and
watch it.
As I reflect on what I have got out of The Secret to date, I equally realise just how much more there is to get. I will be watching and reading it again and again over the coming years. This is how I lead my life now and my life is so much better for it. In future stories I'll expand on some of the things I've read and heard and hopefully develop some interesting discussions with other adherents to The Secret's principles. Until then; THINK IT! BELIEVE IT! DO IT! |
